"Hey, you little fucker"

Yes, then i have been in South-Africa for a little over 1 week. We have one week left of the General orientation (GO) course and then I am leaving for Zambia. We are living in a place called Outlands near Simons Town, 45 minutes drive from Cape town. The first week of GO has been really interesting and it has been cool to meet people from Zambia, Namibia, SA and Zimbabwe. It is strange for a guy from Norway to suddenly live among people from a totally different culture, but it has been really fun and i have learned a lot.

Last thursday we were visiting Khailicha, a township near Cape Town, and it`s the first time i have seen this on close hand. There is houses made by car parts and for me it was a bit strange to watch this way of living. I didn`t feel so good when i first walked in there but after i while, after speaking to some local people i felt a lot better. We were there to organize activities and we gathered among 150 kids. The first kid i spoke to was propably 5 years old, and i asked him how he was doing and I got the answer: "hey, you little fucker". I was very surprised and the kid ran away. But after a while we had 150 kids in different acticities and it is propably one of my best experiences to see those big smiles and happy faces. It was hard because we were 7 of us trying to control 150 kids. Not an easy task but the result was fantastic. I am going to remember this visit to Khailicha for the rest of my life.

The GO course is held by Score and it is very interesting but also long days and some times very boring, but well worth it. On saturday the Norwegians were out in Cape Town. We drove from Simons Town and we were 12 persons in the back of a small van which had seats for 3 people. But we had fun, singing songs and drinking beer. The night out was a success. The rest of the GO course is going to be a facilitation course and I cant wait to get to Specific orientation in Zambia next week.
