The aim of the project is to scientifically collaborate in a comprehensive research project with the aim of increasing important knowledge and data regarding possible health and environmental effects from genetically modified organisms (GMOs). To enhance the capability and potential of both research institutions with regard to a long term collaboration under the Gateways Institutes Programme, and increase the potential of NISIR, and hence Zambian authorities, to handle bio safety issues linked to the implementaion of the national biosafety regulations, in support of the UN Cartagena Protocol on bio safety.
