Biosafety Capasity Building 2010
To scientifically collaborate in biosafety research activities with the aim to increase important knowledge and data collection regarding possible health and environmental effects from genetically modified organisms (GMOs). To enhance the capability and potential of NIES, NISIR and GenØk with regard to a long-term collaboration under the Gateways Institutes Program (GIP) funded by NORAD from 2008. To increase the potential of NIES, NISIR, UFSC and GenØk in handling biosafety research issues through training of staff, including detection of GMOs.In order to help in the implementation of the UN Cartagena Protocol on biosafety, especially linked to the scientific background for conducting risk assessments, will the exchange project to a large extent provide the three countries authorities with highly needed knowledge.
